Book meme glomped from doggieearlover

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I
know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

[The port city of Kotu at the mouth of the Mrin River was, like all Alorn cities at that time, built largely of logs.] My father objects to log cities because of the danger of fire, but my objection to them is aesthetic. A log house is ugly, and when you get right down to it the chinking between the logs is really nothing more than dried mud. Kotu was built on an island, so there wasn't all that much space for it to spread out.

Why am not not surprised that was what was nearest your computer? LOL

It's easiest when reference materials are kept handy, isn't it?

Yeah, gee, what a shock that I'd have the entire Belgariad/Malloreon plus Belgarath and Polgara sitting right there...it just happened to be Pol's book I grabbed first. They have taken up permanent residence on my desk, it seems.

That's pretty much where my Harry Potter books are. I used to participate quite a bit in the 'Harry Potter for Grownups' which is a Yahoo Group that discusses the books. You have to be able to back up your statements with canon (ie book, chapter, page). They ended up in a permanent residence here for lack of anywhere else to put them. :o)

I keep them there because I have to look through them all the time. And it'd be a hassle to put them some place else.
