I Want My MTV

Hey Reader,

MTV turns 25 today. I will turn 24 in September, and while I know I'm technically supposed to be too young to remember when the channel was new, I do remember. I was a strange, strange child. Most days when I was little, I was either in front of the TV watching Nickelodeon or MTV. And I still remember ALL of my favorite videos. It's probably why I'm so good at "Name that Tune."
A few of my favorite videos from when I was a kid have to be Ah-ha's "Take on Me" mainly because it was so neat and cool. I also loved any video by Peter Gabriel, especially "Sledgehammer." And while Michael Jackson has gone total fruit loop, I can say that I loved the "Thriller" video. It was always a must watch for me. I also absolutely LOVED the "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats. Of course, how can anyone forget Dire Strait's "Money for Nothing." There's so many videos from when I was a kid that I love. I can't listen to the classic hits station, actually, without seeing the video that goes with a paticular song in my head.

I also can say I actually remember Beavis and Butthead. Good times, good times. It's a stupid show, featuring two utterly stupid characters, but boy was it ever funny. You just couldn't believe anyone was that dumb. If I wasn't trying to collect anime(which is more expensive than crack), I'd buy the DVDs. I'd have to say my favorite Beavis and Butthead moments are when Beavis was thrown dow n the hill in the tire, the time when Beavis had a bloody nose the entire episode, and of course, how can anyone forget, the time they got "drunk" off the non-alcoholic beer. There'll never be anything like that show again, although that might be a good thing...

All in all, I've had fun thinking back and remembering my favorite MTV moments, before it got ruined by rap and reality television. Back when they actually RAN more than ten videos during the day. The videos these days have absolutely nothing on the classics of the 1980s.

Until next time,

Okay, so, I go off to make my Anime Purchase of the month. I knew what August's would be, like, oh in June. So now it's August, right? I go off to Anime Castle, my favorite online anime shop because my small, rural, southwest Minnesotan town has like, oh, I don't know, NO anime really, to order Inuyasha Movie Four. I've been visiting the site, windowshopping for over a month and a half, looking at the movie for release dates, prices, all that jazz. Soooooooo I go to ORDER it tonight because I got paid yesterday. Yeah, about that. It's NOT there! It's GONE. Just GONE. It's like the damn movie never existed. It's not even there with a "Out of stock" or "backordered" notice. It's just not there. I KNEW I shoulda ordered the stupid thing when I made my "I got the job/July Anime Purchase," but nooooooo I had to wait.  You can see for yourself here.

My local Walmart did carry the last two movies, but not this one so far. I checked today, and it wasn't there, so I resorted to the online ordering, but I guess not. Arrgh. And I don't really want to go to a different site, cause they charge more and I don't know them very well. I'm just hoping the "glitch" that oblierated the fourth movie from the face of Anime Castle's catalog will fix itself. I had hoped to have that movie on the way in the mail very soon, so when the one-shot is finished I can treat myself. Sigh.

Speaking of the one-shot, I should get some work done on that before Inuyasha starts....

Until next, hopefully able to buy her Anime Purchase of the Month!
