My accent!
Sess Loses His Dignity
Here's my accent quiz results stolen from quirkyslayer.
What American accent do you have?
Your Result: North Central

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

The Midland
The Inland North
The West
The South
The Northeast

I don't buy it. If I actually TALKED the way they do in Fargo (by the way, i do know a few, but most of us in Minnesota think it's a ridiculously over done accent in the movie), I'd have to say things like "Oh yah, it'd be a cold one today, don't y' know?" or  "Sure be mighty nippy about here, eh?" And we don't say EH! Seriously. Funny none the less. And we may talk about the weather, but I think we'd laugh that person out of the room if they ever said anything that goofy.

Sooo what's your accent guys? I'm home early from work and curious. . .

>< that icon... every time i see it i want to bop Feni and Manon... oi.

I giggle wildly everytime I see that silly icon. I just can't imagine Sesshomaru putting up with that crap. He'd be mortified!

mortified? nah. he'd kill them dead.

True to that, but still, he'd have to be somewhat embarrassed. Imagine the power Inuyasha would have if he saw it!!

oh now THAT would be sweet.... um... oh noooooooooooooooo! i feel a cracfic coming on! Feni would be so happy..........

-your fault!

Poor Sesshomaru's life would never, ever be the same again. I look forward to the crack!fic. Go ahead, blame me all you want.

okayyyyyyyyy. hopefully i'll have time to get at it this afternoon!

i am of the midland accent. which is amusing considering i am from PA but i've had people say i saund like i'm from wisconsin. what does one from wisconsin sound like?

Technically, I'd think one from Wisconsin sounds like one from Minnesota. After all, we DO border one another.

south carolina is nowhere near north inland! hmm... i probably didnt do it right. lol! o well. that was fun.

accents or lack there of...

The quiz says that I've got the "Midlands" accent, meaning I don't have one. See, I do and I don't. I've often referred to myself as an accent chameleon; if I hear some accent for a length of time longer than 10 minutes, I'll start to pick it up and use it in that conversation. However, I can't sustain it after.

My mom nearly freaked OUT when, while living in the Hudson Valley in NY, I started to pick up the NY accent. Meanwhile, my mom speaks Pittsburghese... "The RAD-ee-ater is working a bit too well, don't yuns think? Oh and that needs to go in the warsh!" OK, that's an exaggeration. She does say "RAD-ee-ator," however she cut out "warsh". I've got a bit of it as well. I say "eye-ther" and "neye-there" instead of "nee-ther" and "EEE-ther."

When you've made 10 interstate moves, your accent gets a bit screwy.

Just a thought having to do with accents - or lack thereof. When I was in college, I worked in Washington state at a pulp mill one summer. Part of my job was taking visitors on tours around the mill. One day some New Zealanders visited us, and in the course of the tour, one of them mentioned how much they liked our state BUT they couldn't believe how strong our accent was! And this from people who made Steve Irwin or Crocadile Dundee sound like North Americans.... I'm still astounded by that comment, as to my prejudiced ear, we don't have much of an accent at all!
