Just what have I gotten myself into?

Well, I've started to read my Ranma volume and now I'm addicted to it just as I'm addicted to so many other things. The only problem: My favorite store has the next THREE volumes on back order. They also have the first volume listed as "out of stock," so I guess I made it just in time.

So far it seems the anime didn't stray too far from the manga. A lot of the same things have happened and it's just as funny and good. I've been reading a chapter before bed each night. I kind of want to read this slowly since I can't seem to get more volumes quickly due to either stock availability or lack of money. That way, perhaps, when I finish the volume I might have the next one waiting!

Where I left off, we just met Dr. Tofu. He's so cute and funny. And I just love how he scared the crap out of Ranma with Betty. Like everyone just walks around with a skeleton named Betty, sheesh.

I'll be curious to see if i notice any differences in the manga than what I saw in the anime as I read along.

That's all for now. I just thought I'd share some of my thoughts on the manga I've read thus far. I wish they hadn't flipped it or Inuyasha. I am so used to the scans that I sometimes get lost because I'm reading right to left instead of left to right. It takes me a couple minutes to remember to read the way I've read all my life, which makes me kind of laugh.

The part I can't wait for in the Ranma manga: P-Chan! Need I say more?

Until next time,

Far Away Eyes

I think it comes down to the fact that VIZ thought it wouldn't sell in the original format. I have noticed more and more manga from various manga publishers have started to keep it in right to left instead of flipping it. I figure VIZ figured they had gotten this far flipped it'd be a waste to redo it or start to put it out unflipped. I wish they would, though!

if only they knew just how wrong they are.. and how much the manganics love they books to be in orignal format.. I would soooo love to get it in Japanese.

I can understand that when they were first trying to get people to buy manga they flipped it, but as it grew in popularity and I'm sure more people asked for it, they could have just as well NOT flipped it. I do wonder if they'll ever put another version of Inu out, this time not flipped. I doubt it after all the money they've put in flipping it, but yeah.

think if enough people asked for it.. they would consider it? they could redo the covers to be like the orginal covers..

I highly doubt it. They've gone up through 29 manga volumes flipped and spent so much money to do it that I think they'd never go back and re-release it unflipped. I wish they would, but I can't see it happening. I still say we'd be pretty close to caught up, a lot closer than now, if they hadn't flipped. That's what takes so damn long.

sighs sadly this is true... pouts.. but publishers don't mind re-doing covers on other books.. grumbles.. I agree with you there.. we would have up to volume 45 or so by now..

I just don't think they'll bother doing it for the US market at this point. It'd be nice, but I don't see it happening. I know other series are unflipped, like Fullmetal, but I think that's a different company than VIZ.

they are just being jerks about it... I have Kenshin.. in the orginal format.. not reversed.. Inuyasha Ani-Manga and the movie Ani-manga and it's not reverse (I kind of think printing in colour is far more costly to VIZ), I have Ceres Fushigi yugi not reversed and these all come from VIZ.. it's just Ranma and Inuyasha they do this to..

Now that ticks me off. They did that for NO reason. Sigh. Stupid VIZ.

i know.. grumbles those butt heads... is it because there is really graphic violence (Kenshin) or sex (Ceres, Fushigi Yugi) or incest (Ceres) that these are left in orginal format. I just don't know about them..

Hmm, that is a good question. Beats me!
