Hey Reader,

Yay! Monday has come and gone. I've also had some luck on both the one shot and next chapter. I have a page and top of the second on the one-shot, and a whole opening paragraph on the next chapter, so there IS progress being made. My beta has seen both, and she says that they are coming along rather nicely, so I'm happy. I wasn't entirely certain about the start of the one-shot, but with her approval I am very happy. I wouldn't say it's entirely different from something that might happen within Journey, but it certainly is a challenge and that makes it fun. So much of my work is inspired by the music I'm listening to at any given time, and each character pretty much has picked a particular artist or style they like. Having a piece centered around a song seems to fit for me. I just hope that when it is a finsihed product that you will agree. It isn't a typical song, and it's not rather well known, at least I don't think so. I'll just have to wait and see what your reactions are, which means I'll have to actually finish it, huh?

I think switching back and forth between my one-shot and the chapter will keep both going. Maybe they will feed off one another and we'll get both much, much sooner than expected. We'll have to see, I suppose. I should be working on one of them right now instead of writing this journal, but it is nearing bed time and what little brain function I had, say a couple hours ago, has flickered and died. I at least have an idea of where I want to go in both stories. I just have to let both simmer for awhile and then sit down and write on them tomorrow. At least it's better than how most of Sunday turned out! And it helps that work is montonous and tedious so I can think. Hell, I spent my lunch break jotting down ideas and snippets of sentences.  If anything, it'll keep my mind sharp, now won't it? And you all get to reap the benefits from that, I suppose.

I should probably get ready for bed so I can face the boredom that is Tuesday. I wish it was Thursdasy tomorrow instead. I am going to go to the race track and watch the horses race after work that day, and I can't wait. I'm only going to bet $25 worth on all the races, but who cares? I'm gonig to watch the horses run, not make money. Isn't that what a job is for! Sigh. Why do I get the feeling this week might drag?

Until next time,

Hey, whatever works! I think it can help sometimes. I know by the time I got Spider Bite put on paper, I was itching to get back to what I was working on at the time. I look forward to both the oneshot and the next chapter.

Have fun at the races - I thought that was what $2 bets were for - you can have fun, but not lose your shirt.

It seems that having the two pieces to work on might help. I had another great planning session during lunch, so hopefully when I sit down to actually write I'll be awake enough to do it. I have a ton of notes and various little snippet quotes to work with on both stories.

My biggest problem as far as this one shot goes is just where to post it. I won't post it at FF.net cause of all their issues and besides they're anti song fics, even if they'll leave plagrized fic alone. Go figure. And my beta wants me to post it at AFF but I just don't think it'll turn out to be dark enough or a hard of R rating (or one at all) that will permit it to be posted there. We'll see, I guess.

Well, there's always MediaMiner, if it doesn't get lost in the fog. And there are some on AFF that will leave a nasty review if they don't think it's hardcore enough. They would rather read some really crappy smut written by a 13 year old that shouldn't even be there than something well-written that isn't Rated X. And at least MediaMiner does have a songfic designation. And you could post it here, too. No reason not to.

I will have to think about it. I am just so glad that this guy on RockStar Supernova RUINED Jumping Jack Flash, because I had to pull out the London Years collection and listen to the real version, which has Child of the Moon backing it. I listened to JJ Flash and Child came on and I was like "Hey, this could be something" and this one shot idea hit me. It's odd how those things turn out sometimes.

I know. I get ideas in the weirdest places, and most of them have nothing to do with InuYasha. I've probably gotten as many from the original Star Trek series (i.e. Myoujou the bear and the whole telepathy thing), Harry Potter, and commercials of all things. One of the scenes in B&T was inspired by a combination of the 5th Harry Potter and the Geico Gecko.

I know I have a few songs I listen to sometimes that could be potential one-shot worthy like Child of the Moon, but none of them as of yet have bitten me like this one. We'll have to see, I might have to make a one-shot compliation type thing like some other people if I have any others do the same thing.

I'll hear stuff on the radio on the way home and think 'that would be a good song-fic' but by the time I get home, my brain is fried and I've forgetten what I was thinking about.

If the bug bites ya, you should go for it.

It's a little easier for me to think of song fics because I write everythign to music. ALL of the characters have pretty much settled on an artist or a type of music. After awhile, I can connect them to their favorite music. This Rolling Stones thing came out of no where, though. But hey, I'm running with it and I know my beta reader will kill me if I don't finish it.
